Common questions
Who pays Fidya?
A person who cannot fast because of old age or a lasting illness, and is not expected to make the fasts up later, pays Fidya for each day.
Who pays Kaffarah?
Kaffarah is due for deliberately breaking a Ramadan fast without a valid reason, or for breaking an oath. The type and amount differ, so a scholar will advise.
How is the amount set?
It is based on the cost of feeding a person, and it changes with local food prices. We tell you the current amount before you pay.
