Copyright and Trademark Policy
How to report content that uses your work, brand or name without permission — and what happens next.
1. Our approach
Sukon respects the work of authors, translators, reciters, artists and brands. We credit every outside source we use on our Credits & licences page, and we expect members, scholars, partners and vendors to post only content they own or have permission to share. INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED operates Sukon as an intermediary under section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 for content that members post (for example Dua Wall posts, welcome cards, partner and vendor listings).
2. Report copyright infringement
If you own the copyright in a work (or are authorised to act for the owner) and believe it appears on Sukon without permission, email legal@sukon.in with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:
- Your full name, address, phone number and email.
- A description of the work, and proof that you own it or are authorised to act for the owner (for example a registration certificate, publication record or licence).
- The exact web address (URL) or in-app location of each item you want removed.
- Why the use is not permitted — for example, that it is not covered by a licence or by fair dealing under section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature.
We follow rule 75 of the Copyright Rules, 2013: when we receive a complete written notice, we remove or disable access to the content within 36 hours and tell the person who posted it. If you do not send us a court order within 21 days, we may restore the content. Notices written in the format of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act are also accepted.
3. Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake, or that you have the right to use it, write to legal@sukon.in with the subject “Counter-notice”. Include your contact details, the removed content and where it was, why you believe you are allowed to use it (for example your own licence or permission), and a statement that the information is accurate. We share the counter-notice with the person who complained and decide on restoration in line with the law and any court order.
4. Trademarks and brands
If a listing, account or post uses your registered trademark, logo or business name in a way that is likely to confuse people about who is behind it, email legal@sukon.in with the subject “Trademark notice”. Include the trademark and its registration number and country (for example under the Trade Marks Act, 1999), the content you are reporting and why it is misleading. Fair, factual mentions of a brand — for example in a review or news article — are allowed.
5. Impersonation and names
Pretending to be another person, a scholar, a masjid, an NGO or Sukon itself is not allowed. To report impersonation of you or your organisation, use the Grievance form or email grievance@sukon.in with a link to the content and proof of identity. Under the IT Rules, 2021 we act on impersonation complaints within 24 hours.
6. Counterfeit goods
Vendors on Sukon must sell only genuine products (see our Vendor Terms). To report counterfeit goods, email legal@sukon.in with the listing, the brand concerned and the reason you believe the goods are not genuine.
7. Repeat infringers
We remove accounts, listings and partners that repeatedly infringe copyright or trademarks, after considering any counter-notice.
8. Using Sukon’s own content
The Sukon name, logo, designs, articles, eBooks and app screens belong to INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED. Quran text, translations, hadith and recitations are used under the terms listed on our Credits page and remain the work of their owners. To use the Sukon name or logo, follow our Brand guidelines; for anything else, ask legal@sukon.in.
9. False notices
Sending a notice you know to be false can make you liable under Indian law. If you are unsure whether a use infringes your rights, take legal advice before you write to us.
