Ramadan 2027 in India: expected dates and a simple checklist
By Team Sukon
When is Ramadan 2027 expected?
Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin around 8 February 2027 by the Umm al-Qura calendar, and Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March 2027 — 10 March is the date in the Central Government holiday list for India. In India, the start of each Islamic month is confirmed by local moon sighting, so the first fast is often a day after the Gulf. Follow your local Ruet-e-Hilal committee or masjid for the final announcement.
You can see the expected dates, with a countdown, on our Islamic calendar and prayer times pages.
A simple checklist for the weeks before
- Make up missed fasts. If you owe fasts from last Ramadan, try to complete them before the month begins. Our Roza tracker helps you count.
- Plan your Quran. Decide how much you will read each day. Thirty juz in thirty days is about one juz a day — around 20 pages. Start now in our Quran reader.
- Build the habit early. Voluntary fasts on Mondays and Thursdays in Rajab and Sha’ban make the first days of Ramadan easier.
- Calculate your Zakat. Many families give Zakat in Ramadan. Work out what is due, and plan Zakat al-Fitr before Eid.
- Prepare the family. Agree Sehri and Iftar routines, and involve children with a simple Ramadan chart.
- Think of others. Ration kits and Iftar for families in need are among the most rewarding acts of the month. See our community programmes.
Sehri and Iftar times
Sehri ends at the start of Fajr and Iftar is at Maghrib. Our prayer times page shows both for 35 Indian cities. Always follow your local masjid if its timings differ.
