Sadaqah every day: 10 easy ways to give
By Team Sukon
Sadaqah is not only money. The Prophet ﷺ taught that many everyday acts are charity. Here are ten you can do this week.
- Smile. “Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity” (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 1956).
- Say a good word. “A good word is charity” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2989).
- Help someone carry something. Helping a person onto their ride or lifting their luggage is charity (Sahih al-Bukhari 2989).
- Remove something harmful from the road. It is a branch of faith (Sahih Muslim 35).
- Give water. Fill a bottle for a worker, put out water for birds in summer.
- Feed someone. Share a meal with a neighbour, a guard or a delivery rider.
- Plant a tree. Whatever a person, bird or animal eats from it is charity for you (Sahih al-Bukhari 2320).
- Teach what you know. Beneficial knowledge keeps rewarding you after death (Sahih Muslim 1631).
- Give something small, regularly. The most beloved deeds are regular ones, even if small (Sahih al-Bukhari 6464).
- Start a Sadaqah Jariyah. A well, a Quran for a masjid, or a child’s education keeps giving (Sahih Muslim 1631).
And remember: “Charity does not decrease wealth” (Sahih Muslim 2588). See Sukon’s community programmes and ways to give.
